Xcitex have just released MiDAS 4.0. Motion and Integrated Data Acquisition Software.

MiDAS 4.0 -- the fourth generation of MiDAS -- is the premier software for event-capture camera control, synchronisation with data sources, file management, and industrial automation.

MiDAS 4.0 is designed to simplify the process of acquiring videos and data from sensors from multiple sources. With MiDAS, every camera system becomes a video/data oscilloscope and motion capture system.

ProAnalyst is the premier software package for measuring motion from video.

ProAnalyst is used worldwide by researchers, engineers, product designers, doctors and scientists in a variety of applications, ranging from measuring athletic performance to calculating the size of airbags in cars to tracking missiles in space.

ProAnalyst allows you to import any video and quickly extract and quantify the motion within that video. With ProAnalyst, any video camera becomes a non-contact test instrument.

And because it was designed with the test engineer in mind, ProAnalyst is full featured, powerful and affordable.

ProAnalyst can be downloaded and tested for a month for free. Try it on your video files.

    Selection of compatible cameras

When the original MiDAS was launched, it was for the Redlake MotionScope PCI camera. Since then, the MotionPro PCI and the DRS Lightning RDT were added.

Now, with the launch of MiDAS 4.0, cameras of all interfaces are now possible, not just PCI. In addition, the data acquisition cards are now available in PCMCIA format, bringing the power of MiDAS to your laptop.

Current cameras that are compatible with MiDAS4.0 now include

    • MotionPro HS & X-series
    • HG-100K & HG-LE
    • Troubleshooter & Ranger
    • Photron Ultima 512 & APX

Check out the full list of compatible cameras; more are being added soon.

Xcitex wins 'Emmy' for broadcast software

New York, NY – Four Xcitex engineers -- Brian Anthony, Peter Carellas, Jesse Hong and Alex Shopov -- were awarded the the George Wensel Outstanding Innovative Technical Achievement Award for their work with CBS Sports' golf broadcasts.

Xcitex provided StrikeForce technology to automatically extract and analyze data from the high speed cameras to compute the ball speed, club speed, ball spin rate, launch angle and other parameters, which are then overlaid onto the video signal.

Xcitex StrikeForce technology is used in the broadcast industry and in the design of specialized measurement systems for athletes and sports equipment manufacturers.
