Lake Image Systems Announces RedLake's HG-100K CMOS Imaging System For Capturing High Speed Events In Harsh Environments.

Next-Generation 1.7 Megapixel CMOS Sensor is Capable of Recording Rates Up To 100,000 Frames Per Second.

The HG-100K is RedLake’s most recent imaging system designed to record high-speed events in harsh environments such as those found in Vehicle Impact Tests. “The HG-100K utilizes a next generation CMOS optical sensor that provides performance levels not typically associated with other CMOS sensors,” said Fred Bartels, Product Line Manager, RedLake MASD. “This high performance sensor is extremely sensitive to light, and generates low noise even while achieving very fast recording rates at very high resolutions. Therefore, extremely high quality images can be recorded while minimizing the costs of additional lighting. This translates into more accurate and less costly images to aid engineers in evaluating all aspects of vehicle design and occupant safety.”

RedLake’s HG-100K generates 1.7 megapixel images at recording rates up to 1000 full frames per second, and up to 100,000 partial frames per second, making it the highest performing high-speed imaging system in the world. The 1504 x 1128 pixel sensor includes a very fast global electronic shutter, with exposure times down to 5 microseconds, to eliminate motion blur and deliver razor sharp images. A 1000 Base-T Gigabit Ethernet Interface allows remote camera control and rapid download of TIFF or compact Bayer format images. Designed for capturing high-speed events in harsh environments, the HG-100K system consists of three main components: the High-G camera, an optional High-G hub, and a control computer for camera control and image processing. The camera and hub can withstand shocks up to 100G in any axis. A backup battery is included to preserve the recording in the event of a power failure. The control computer is capable of supporting a large number of cameras in a single network. During imaging the camera heads may be disconnected from all but power and trigger source.

Compatibility with legacy systems is a key attribute of the HG-100K. Previous customer investments in RedLake’s (or Kodak’s) HG, HG- TX and CR Imager system’s infrastructure are protected because an interface allows those systems to be integrated within the HG-100K system environment. New HG-100K and systems already installed in the customer’s facility can be simultaneously controlled.

Major application areas for the HG-100K include: Automotive; Range, Aerospace & Ballistics; High End Research, Design & Test; and Production Line Diagnostics.
